Jan. 22, Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) issued a warning to the public that anyone who had been tattooed at a home on Raglan Street South was at risk of contracting a blood-borne infection. Following a public complaint, RCDHU conducted an inspection and discovered the operator was not following proper infection prevention and control procedures for disinfection and storage of the equipment in accordance with provincial standards.
The notice was widely shared on social media, causing chaos for at least one of Renfrew’s two established tattoo businesses, both of which are located on Raglan Street.
Pierre Menard of Pierre’s Tattoos, who received many inquiries and calls following the notice, wants the public to be fully aware the operation in question was a home-based business and not his shop.
